David brings 46 years of retailing expertise as an operator, marketer, and strategist to his clients, which include dunnhumby, eBay, Tesco, and several retailers around the globe. Growing sales by creating better customer experiences that build loyalty – a strategic approach that David calls ‘Customer First’ – is his passion and career-long focus.
In his nearly 40 years at The Kroger Co., Mr. Ciancio worked in store operations, merchandising, and marketing roles, and led strategic advancements in advertising, loyalty marketing, and digital commerce. He created one of the first supermarket loyalty card programs in the US in 1996, and innovated Kroger’s best-in-class loyalty propositions. His visionary and customer-led ideas brought David recognition by Advertising Age Magazine as one of its “Top 50 Marketers” of 2008.
During his 5+ years as an executive at dunnhumby (London), David was responsible for global business development and was MD of the firm’s overall global Customer Strategy & Engagement capability (which included the disciplines of Loyalty, Retailing Strategy, Organization Change & Education, and FMCG Brand Growth).
David is a graduate of the University of San Francisco, with an honors degree in Psychology. He also completed the Food Industry Management program at the University of Southern California.
