Doug Norris, Ph.D., is the Senior Vice President and Chief Demographer at Environics Analytics. But he’s better known by his nickname “Mr. Census”, which he earned during his 30-year career at StatsCan, most recently as Director General of Social and Demographic Statistics. He currently assists companies, government agencies and not-for-profit organizations in using demographic and other statistical information for planning and marketing projects. In addition, he frequently writes articles and delivers speeches on demographics, immigration, ethnicity and the family. An adjunct professor at Carleton University and the University of Alberta, he is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award for “Outstanding Contributions to Canadian Demography” from the Canadian Population Society and the Award for Career Excellence from StatsCan.
