Aaron started his career working in B2B sales and marketing for Research in Motion and IBM. From there, he transitioned into the role of being a buyer at Loblaw Companies Ltd working from fresh food to general merchandise categories in toys, hardware, and household products. He delivered consistent year over year growth by executing robust merchandising strategies such as innovative assortment, balancing private label and national brands, strategic pricing, building productive planograms, and managing cost drivers. His expertise also expands into building profitable advertising and promotional strategies including using marketing analytics, developing new vendor programs, and utilizing loyalty programs and flyers to communicate with consumers. From these experiences of managing some of Canada’s largest market share portfolios, Aaron accepted a new challenge at Dollar Tree Canada. Dollar Tree is a Fortune 500 Company operating 13,851 stores across 48 states in US and 5 provinces in Canada with revenues in excess of $15 billion (USD). The new challenge involves working with the vendor community around the world to retail products at the fixed price point of $1.25 CAD and satisfying the Canadian consumers.
Aaron holds a B.Comm degree from the University of Alberta specializing in Accounting and Strategic Management Operations. He has studied overseas at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and has completed advertising and merchandising certificates from the University of Toronto. Currently, he is pursuing an MBA at Wilfrid Laurier University with a focus in marketing. He also instructs group exercise fitness classes at GoodLife Fitness Clubs.
