Simon Hay has held the role of dunnhumby global CEO since 2011, having previously been responsible for dunnhumby’s UK & Ireland business. With a presence in more than 29 markets globally and over 3,000 employees, dunnhumby is a business that continues to grow in strength under Hay’s leadership, providing valuable insight from more than 770 million customers worldwide, to help retailers and brands build loyalty and gain competitive advantage.
Since joining dunnhumby in 1991 to look after its client-facing operations, Hay managed the Tesco relationship for seven years before taking up the challenge of leading dunnhumby’s expansion to the United States through a partnership with major grocery retailer Kroger. In his six years at the helm of dunnhumbyUSA, Hay helped the company grow from a team of just four to several hundred, earning him an Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award.
Prior to joining dunnhumby, Hay spent seven years with the market analysis company CACI, working on the analysis of patterns of retailing. He holds a degree in human geography.
