Porter joined Walmart Canada in 1995 and has been a student of retail ever since, holding a variety of store level roles as he grew his career. In 2003, he was promoted to store manager and ran a number of stores across Ontario and played a pivotal role in the launch of the Supercentre business in Canada. Promoted to district manager in 2008, Porter ran districts in both Muskoka and the GTA, which then led him to the role of regional director of operations in Ontario, followed by senior director of central operations.

In November of 2014, Porter was promoted to VP, market leader which included launching Walmart’s online grocery business in the Ottawa Market that summer. In the Spring of 2016, he entered the role of VP, omni-channel and online grocery. Responsible for advancing Walmart Canada’s digital efforts in the omni-channel space, Porter also leads a team which is actively developing and expanding Walmart’s Online Grocery business across Canada. 

During this same time period, Porter served also served in the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve where he held the role of Infantry Sergeant and served for 11 years. In his down time, he is involved with the Lorne Scots Regimental Association and has been serving as their President for the past 3 years. In 2014, Porter received his Masters of Business Administration in Executive Management from Royal Roads University.

Porter and his wife, Liz, have an eight year old son named Jackson and live in Milton, Ontario.
