Managing Director, Match Marketing Group
McDonald is the vice president of shopper strategy and business development for Match Marketing Group (MMG), and works out of the Match MG North American headquarters in Toronto, Canada. McDonald began his career in sales at Coca-Cola Enterprises before moving to MARS Inc. where he held senior roles in both sales and marketing within the North American chocolate division. During his tenure at MARS, he built and led the instore marketing function in Canada, became a key lead on the global trade marketing team, and was the recipient of numerous leadership and business achievement awards. Prior to joining Match MG, McDonald was senior director, national trade marketing for Labatt Breweries, where he led one of the largest shopper and channel marketing teams in Canada, activating the Budweiser, Bud Light, Alexander Keith’s, and Stella Artois brands.
McDonald brings over 20 years of experience, combined with a wealth of knowledge and strategic thinking to the MMG team. As a result, he is well regarded by colleagues and clients alike as an expert in shopper marketing and buyer behavior. He holds a BA from the University of British Columbia, in addition to marketing certificates from both the University of British Columbia School of Business and Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. McDonald is passionate about buyer influences and behavior as well as the study and promotion of marketing science. Known to be both engaging and thought provoking, he brings clients a highly effective approach to creating demand for their brands.
